What we need as an IT department is, we need software that makes no sound that just runs smoothly. If the database makes noise, all the other software will also make noise and in the end our customer also makes noise. This automotive business has to do with just-in-time sequencing just-in-time delivery. If data is not available we cant produce our products, so our customer cant produce. So it can be made really simple: no data no customer. Martin Heitkaemper, Heitkaemper EDV, Beratung GmbH: When we built up that system in the very beginning we had to consider some situations that are necessary for such a complex system like SAP. First of all you need stability. A company like HP Pelzer that works 24×7 and produces data has to have a stable and reliable database as a platform. Christoph Naber: Six years ago was the start of production with the DB2 in combination with the Intel platform.
